Misc.

Below are notes and thoughts compiled by the NI FIRST Support team that have not yet been compiled into an official document

Eric

  • Cannot see cRIO in MAX in safe mode with cross over cable.  The status LED shows its unconfigured.    Use both IP reset and safe mode so we can see it in MAX.  Once we can see it in MAX reformat it, and set it for DHCP.  Turn off safemode and IP reset then use the imaging tool.  We believe this is might have been caused by the upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 LVFRCUpdate.
  • With really really messy uninstall/resintall issues you might have to create a new administrator account and reinstall.

Nate

  • Do NOT use Google Chrome to configure the Wireless Router and Bridge. Linksys webpage will not accept "admin" user and password while doing so.
  • Vision assistant creating a blank VI.  Nate is getting their scripts and trying to reproduce this here.   It does not seem to be related to licensing.  Nate is going to have them try to generate VIs from single step script.  30 day try has code generation feature.  This should be less of an issue now that the vision two color example has been posted.
  • Gear tooth sensor will count fine, but the period measurement off.  This is a known issue with the FPGA.  This is because the FPGA is switching between channels we are reading from.  This has been fixed in the update.
  • Can we send teams code?  No, we cannot send code to an individual team.  But we can post it as example online and then have them download it.

Ben

  • Cannot connect to cRIO through the driver station.  Both the DS and the cRIO have the latest upgrades.  All of the link lights are flashing.  The customer is going to be trying different Ethernet cables.  The customer can connect directly to the cRIO with a cross over cable.  He could try running a wireshark or hyperterminal capture to try and see what the network activity is doing.  Ben is going to have the customer try and check the watchdog to see if the watchdog is being fed.  \
  • Customer could not activate Vision components.  The issue turned out to be he was trying to activate the non-FRC version of Vision.  Once he tried activating the FRC version, his serial number and the online activation worked correctly.
  • Customer was trying to create a stand alone RT application and couldn't get it to run.  While creating the application, he added every VI in his project as a Startup VI.  I had him add only his top level VI as a startup VI and then he has able to run that startup app as expected.
  • Customer could not deploy code to cRIO, however could ping and see in MAX.  Deployment only worked after disabling her wireless NIC card in her laptop.

Jenn

  • One customer couldn't build the dashboard into an EXE on one machine but not another machine.   There is a WR example that can deliver data to the LV dashboard.
  • How do you delete a program running on the cRIO created in WR.  Undeploy doesn't seem to work.  They have been FTPing into the controller and deleting .out files.  We will be contacting Bill at WPI and get his input.
  • When running the camera utility we get an error that he cannot configure the camera.  The tool is not required to work out of the box but it is highly recommended.  The tool must be run to get the camera working correctly in WR and vision assistant.

John

  • FPGA update.  We can tell him the next update will be coming out soon.

Mark

Burt

  • If one of the slots on the cRIO stop working, but the module and breakout are working fine, it is possible that the cRIO has a bad image and the FPGA bit file is corrupt.  Try reimaging the cRIO.  If this doesn't work, try redownloading the image on a different computer and reimage from that computer instead.
