Automated Installation of NI Software Fails

VERSION 1

Created on: Feb 6, 2009 11:35 AM by AEDavid - Last Modified:  Feb 6, 2009 11:36 AM by AEDavid

Problem

Automation of an NI installer fails.  How can I resolve this error?

Solution

This issue may occur if you have more than 99 license files in the client license file directory: [National Instruments]\Shared\License Manager\Licenses.  For more information, see All NI Software Requiring Activation Fails to Start After Installing New Software.  During a silent installation of NI software, a message box will appear warning that all NI software may fail to start.  The automation program may be waiting for the user to accept this message box.

If you are using Microsoft SMS, configure it to display installer dialogs.  Note that Microsoft SMS has a default installer timeout of two hours.

If an automated installation is failing and there are not more than 99 license files in the client license file directory, contact support with the installer log file.  Specify in your support request which program you are using for automation.
