After installing and licensing the 2009 control system software from the DVD's on my laptop running Vista Home Premium, I tried to open up the encoder example in LabVIEW.
I get a warning in the project explorer next to "RT CompactRIO Target". When I right-click "Explain Warning" I get this message: "The plugin for the selected item is not installed on your system".
The license manager has solid yellow blocks next to all the items mentioned in the activation instructions.
When I installed the software on an XP laptop and an XP desktop for our two student programmers, I didn't run into any problems.
I've attached a screen-shot of the error message so you can see what I'm talking about. I've uninstalled every program from National Insturements and WindRiver and then reinstalled everything (restarting in between each step). I get the same problem every time.
I don't know what to try next.

Hi gabrielse,
Are you still seeing the warning about a missing plug-in? It sounds like the driver may not have installed correctly. Was any other National Instruments software installed on this laptop before? If LabVIEW 8.6 was, a newer version of the driver may have prevented the driver on the FRC DVD from installing.
If that is (or isn't) the case, please let me know and we can go from there.
Regards,
Jennifer

Jennifer,
I'm still seeing the same warning, and I still don't know what to do next.
I had Labview 8.5 installed (plus the NXT toolkit and patch) before I installed the FIRST software.
I unistalled everything from national instruements and windriver. Then I reinstalled everything from the FIRST DVD. It made no difference.
How would I go about fixing the driver problem?
Thanks,
J. Gabrielse

J.
I would recommend performing a clean re-installation. I've attached a document with steps in which to do this.

It worked. Thanks!
