Accelerometer Measurements - Acceleration vs Velocity

Hi there,

I am looking into using Flexlogger to capture and review motion data from an accelerometer via an NI-9230.  Via the demo version, I see I have the option to select a Physical Measurement type.  If I am eventually needing to review velocity, is it possible to select "Linear Velocity" with the presumption that Flexlogger would automatically integrate from acceleration->velocity? Or must I select "Acceleration" and do the integration manually?

Thanks!

You need to select the type of physical measurement your sensor measures (in your case acceleration). There are other types of sensors that measure velocity. FlexLogger has calculated channels so you can use the acceleration data output from your sensor and perform an integration on it by selecting the toolbar option Add channels>>Calculation>>Integral:

And then configure the settings for the Integral:

Hope that helps,

Brad

Hi Brad,

Thank you for confirming this so quickly.  The process you describe makes sense and I am glad Flexlogger has built-in integration capability!

Thanks again!
