Upgrading from openSUSE 11.1 to 11.3: VISA Issue

I am moving my application from openSUSE 11.1 to 11.3 (both using Gnome window manager). The application continuously communicates with a serial device by ASCII commands sent over VISA. On v.11.1 I used NI-VISA 1.10 and NI-VISA 4.5, everything worked fine. On v.11.3 I am using NI-VISA 5.0 (I understand that it installs NI-KAL 2.0). After anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes, the application reports error -1073807339, "VISA:  (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed".

Communications with our custom board are done using an FTDI chip (using a virtual serial port ttyUSB0). FTDI drivers are included into both versions of openSUSE. In addition to the new version of openSUSE, NI-KAL and NI-VISA, the new setup uses a different motherboard - Intel D510MO.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Sergey L
