My dear Friends,

 

                       Its Happy to share my project concepts as an Intern at National Instruments - Bangalore.

I am currently pursuing my final year in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sri Shakthi Institute of Engg and Technology - Coimbatore.

 

                       As I had mentioned in my first Blog, the project assigned to me was Creating a TEST BENCH for Automatic Testing of Contactors using NI TEST STAND.

 

        During the course of an engineers career, each one has to involve themselves in research, experimentation and testing of new products. In Each and every stage of Product or Process development , Testing has to be done. In all kinds of manufacturing Industries, Quality has to be given the top priority . At present for testing the products, industries spend lot of money, time and many other resources to implement a standard testing setup. In order to overcome all this issues, National Instruments had developed a Standard Test management software known as NI TEST STAND.

 

TEST STAND

  • Test Stand is a special Test management Software of National Instruments which is an Industry Standard for Automated Test.Using this we can manage the below tests.

1. Validation Test

2. Verification Test

1. Develop Test sequences

2. Rearrange the order of execution

3. Generate and log reports as a database

4. Increase the Accuracy and throughput.

 

                  

DESIGN SPECIFICATION :


The E   Electrical Contactors has to be tested automatically and the reports or a result regarding the following tests has to be recorded.

                  1. High voltage test

                  2. Coil Current and Voltage measurement Test.

                  3. Continuity Test.

                  4. Temperature Test.

The Chopper circuit is used to vary the input voltage(from min to max) that has to be fed to the coil of the contactors. This is done to detect the min Voltage and current at which the contactor goes to MAKE (ON ) Condition.Depending uopn the Specifications, project plan was made.

 

The Mentor assigned to me was Mr. Avichal -  Application Engineer at National Instruments . He was very helpful to me in finding out the solutions and was guiding me to finish my project in a best way.

Hi..

I m Bittu Kumar,final year student @ B.M.S College of Engineering,Bangalore...I m doing internship in National Instruments,Bangalore,India.

I sent my resume to National Instruments in Nov,2012.I was selected for telephonic interview in Jan,2013....After few days i recieved the confirmation mail from NI regarding my internship.It was one of the most happiest day of my life.According to me every engineer has to be fortunate enough to get such a opportunity.

Here @ NI,Bangalore all the interns have been assigned a mentor.My mentor is Mr. Siddharth Rajagopal (Application Engineer,NI Bangalore)...

My intern project is CNC Machine

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control.CNC Machining is a process used in the manufacturing sector that involves the use of computers to control machine tools.  Tools that can be controlled in this manner include lathes, mills, routers and grinders.

Components Used

  1. CNC Machine
  2. PC with LabVIEW
  3. NI cRIO
  4. NI 9512 Module
  5. NI P70530 Stepper Drive
  6. Stepper Motors

Block Descriptions

First a CAD drawing is created (either 2D or 3D) using softwares like Solidedge,Autocad etc.Then tool path (G&M Codes) is generated using CAM(Computer-Aided-Manufacturing) software. G-Code is the CNC programming language that describes the direction and the amount of movement axis must move. G& M Codes are then given to LabVIEW.LabVIEW interpret G& M Codes. Based on G& M codes LabVIEW controls the stepper motors of CNC machine using NI cRIO to complete the desired operation.NI cRIO is connected to NI9512 module,NI 9512 is a stepper drive interface with encoder feedback.NI 9512  controls the NI P70530 Stepper Drive,which in turn controls the stepper motors.

Hi guys,

 

               I am Navathej doing my undergraduate in Bio-Medical Engineering in SSN College of Engineering,Chennai. My aim is to do masters in Biomedical. So, I was looking for Internship that would fetch me an Industrial Exposure. I came to know that National Instruments was recruiting Interns. Taking this as a chance, I applied to it, attended the interview and felt very happy to know that I got selected.

 

               My internship started on 22nd Jan, 2013. National Instruments scheduled this internship in such a way that they started with 1 week training on LabVIEW basics and some hardware. This training had been really a good way to brush up with basics and also to expand my knowledge. I came to NI with an intention that I should do project in a field other than Biomedical.  Later, they assigned me a project and mentor. As wished, I got 'Ball on a Plate System', where I need to balance a ball over the center of a plate irrespective of the ball position. When I got this project, I had several ideas in my mind. I discussed with my mentor, and chose best method. With his help, I was able to complete the coding needed for my project.

     Hi friends, 

 

It was the most happiest and lovable moment when I received the mail that I got selected for Internship at NI. This was because of the passion and interest that I had  towards LabVIEW after attending Core 1 and Core 2 in my college.

Internship at NI started on 22nd Jan of 2013 with lot of enthusiasm and expectations with new people and new environment. The first day at NI made me realise that I was surrounded by more friendly people here.

 

        First week of Internship taught me a lot , which made me to realise that Engineering is the most interesting field than I ever imagined  . The training which was given by the experienced people in NI , made me  realise many practical aspects of handling and facing challenging projects. Later on, we were assigned with projects and mentors. With a friendly support of our mentors , we all started our projects.  Project plan and specifications were designed and I started to work according to it. I and other interns started to share the concepts of different projects and each day we solved different problems in each of our project which made us to gaim more practical knowledge on real - time problems

 

        The Project assigned to me was creating Testbench for AUTOMATIC TESTING OF CONTACTORS using NI Test Stand. I am currently working on it .

Hi friends,

 

Let me introduce myself .. This is Giri Seshadri from SRM Easwari Chennai doing my Internship with NI India.. I ve been workin on LabVIEW since 2010 when i started learning it as a passtime activity never imagined my LabVIEW experience to be this awesome..   I got myself certified as an Associate Developer (CLAD) in that year itself and trained few students in LabVIEW (Teaching of course my passion) ... My tryst with LabVIEW did not end there, I got selected for an Intership here after an interview after the intro the story starts!

 

The first days here , a new place not so because i attended my LabVIEW training here in 2010, But a good place to return to... made new friends and got refreshed  with our LabVIEW skills and we got an insight into project management and  the value of true engineer days later we got our mentors and projects assigned..  then we started researching on the projects assigned to us and thats when i realised the improtance of the literature survey and the importace of the being sure of the concepts before sitting to work on the project...  and was taught LV RT and FPGA .. not to forget the 600 page doc on USB 2.0 for my project was data capture from a USB camera on the FPGA . then i was so happy that i made my first state machine.

 

will get back to you with my final project and the working driver for the USB camera...
