What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

In our nation there is a lots of problems occurs in power sector mostly in distribution lines most of the areas in any seasons there is fault occurs due to natural as well as manmade accidents this results to electrocution occurs and causes many life losses. And if any fault occured in our area we need to call service man to clear the fault. If it is not notify results in electrocution accidents.

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

Using this fault locating and monitoring system we can computerize and locate the correct fault location and control the electrocution by automatically shut down power supply on that particular area and gives information to service man by sending sms . In this concept we are using lab view software in the substations and it is connected with array of Fault indicators in distribution lines. By using wireless communication device Zigbee it is connected to the software on substations or in local monitoring stations. It monitors the faults in every second if any area under fault it automatically generate the sms or voice call to service man and also shut down the power on particular area to reduce the electrocution. It helps the consumers to be feeling comfort and no need to call service man to complain about the faults.

Description of Project:

In our project we created Fault locating system for Single phase line. The Fault locater or transmitting unit is placed on different area (In distribution lines after the distribution transformer). This transmitting unit consist of microcontroller, current and votage transformer. In normal condition it sends the present voltage and current values to the system. In abnormal condition it sends the informations like recorded fault current or over current value and area code to substation unit. In substation unit it receives the infromation and sends to Labview. It gives geographical information about fault and it type and sends the sms to serviceman of that area to clear the fault.
