                    Water level - Float Sensor

               Light Intensity- Light Dependant Resistors

What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

In spite of the fact that technology grows leaps and bounds with every passing day, the exposure of a primary sector like agriculture to technology is quite limited. Agriculture, despite being a primary source of occupation for millions of people around the world has been benefitted quite marginally by automation. Hence, there is excessive stress on the manual labours employed for the agricultural activities.

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

Even though, farming may look primitive, there is a huge scope for automation in it. This project helps to reduce the stress on the manual labour by automating the maintainance of various parameters after the plant is sowed. This not only helps the farmers by reducing their work load but also is aimed at increasing the crop yield.

Description of Project:

There are basically three levels in the project which work independently. The first level is the field level which is placed in the field itself. This measure the various parameters of the environment of the field using the sensors. The values measured by these sensors are sent to the next level by means of Xbee. The next level is the monitoring level, this level receives the data from the field level through Xbee shield connected to Arduino and is sent to Labview through Arduino. The parameters can be monitored using Labview. The fuzzy algorithm for the outputs are also coded in the Labview. The fuzzy inputs are Soil Moisture Level, Humidity and Temperature. The Humidity is given higher priority or preference as the spraying of water to increase humidity in turn increases soil moisture level to an extent. The fuzzy outputs are Drip System for irrigation and Sprayer system to control humidity in air. The Drip system is also used to fertilize the plants while the sprayer system can be used to spray weedicide before sowing the crops. The other input from the Light Dependant Resistor(LDR) is directly used to control the artificial lighting system. The third level is the control level. This level is used to control the outputs using relays connected through Arduino. The other feature of the project is that the various sensor values are regularly uploaded to the server which ca be used for agricultural research in future.

This project is rele needed for the society especially for countries India where it is a primary occupation.t is interesting to note that technology can be implemented to enhance the agriculture field.Technology like dis and with more advance version in the future will certaily boom the agricultural sector which will shift people from engg to farming..Keep inventing.
