FPGA 1 hour - Hands On

This one hour session introduces the concepts of embedded design using LabVIEW and National Instruments FPGA hardware. At the end of the session, you should be able to:

  • Understand why FPGA systems are useful
  • Understand how code is implemented into an FPGA
  • (Using Logic blocks, Programmable interconnects and I/O blocks)
  • Create a basic FPGA program in LabVIEW
  • Use advanced maths functions on LabVIEW FPGA
  • Develop truly parallel code using the FPGA

In order for you to have the best possible experience, the attached zip file contains a LabVIEW Project File. Open this project to explore the session’s Exercises and Solutions. The documentation included in the Project File also includes the list of hardware required to run the session, as well as the session manual. The zip file also contains compiled VIs ready to be deployed to the cRIO FPGA.

Feedback is always appreciated, so if you spot any issues with the documentation or LabVIEW files, please let us know so that we can continue to improve on our database of hands-on sessions.

Please ensure you have the Hands on installer installed before downloading this. This allows the file to be installed automatically when opened.

This can be downloaded here.
