2 MeV Linear Electron Accelerator Injector Control System Using CompactRIO

Title: 2 MeV Linear Electron Accelerator Injector Control System Using CompactRIO

Presenter: Wendi Dreesen, National Securities Technologies (NSTec)

Abstract: National Security Technologies operates a linear electron accelerator with continuously variable energy from 250 keV to 3 MeV. The injector can generate an electron pulse with variable widths from 1 ns to several microseconds. The operator must remotely adjust the cathode's filament power, pulse width, grid bias, amplifier gain, and other variables. Previously, an analog control system was used to control these settings with few channels and no feedback. Learn how the system was successfully upgraded to control the injector with feedback by using an NI cRIO-9075 real-time integrated system with a digital I/O module, analog I/O modules, a multichannel AC relay switching unit, and LabVIEW software.
