

...sadly, the once positive word "hacker" has been tainted through negative misuse. The popular press have coopted the term to refer to individuals who break into computer systems to steal or corrupt data. True hackers maintain that such individuals are criminal hackers or crackers!!
It's time for engineers to reclaim hacker for the positive term it once was. After all, 21st century tinkering, fuelled by the maker movement, could represent the beginnings of the next industrial revolution.


At National Instruments UK, we encourage our talented young engineers to embrace their technical curiosity. Each year we give our undergraduate interns...
...and we ask them to invent a super-cool, innovative new gadget or tech demo. We are always blown away by what these young engineers achieve under such tight constraints. The resulting systems are engaging, enlightening and unquestionably creative.
