Breaking news from the White House! The closing keynote address at NIWeek 2012 will be delivered by Georgia Institute of Technology Professor Thomas R. Kurfess, who is currently on a 12-month appointment with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
As the assistant director for advanced manufacturing, Kurfess works closely with scientists and policymakers in various executive branch agencies. He identifies crucial gaps in the federal government’s advanced manufacturing research and develops strategies to address these gaps.
Also, as the BMW Endowed Chair of Manufacturing at Clemson, Kurfess has spent years conducting research on the design and development of advanced systems targeting the automotive industry, including vehicle and production systems.
