FIRST Robotics Kickoff

On Jan 3rd, thousands of high school students, their coaches, and mentors gathered at sites around the world to see the official kickoff of the 2009 season. The Seattle event was held at Interlake High School, and it was standing-room only. With over 50 teams participating this year, it is a highly competitive league and there was a lot of excitement in the room.

After introductions by FIRST founder Dean Kamen, the rules for 2009 were laid out. The name of the event this year is "Lunacy" to celebrate 40 years since we landed on the moon. The competition requries teams to load up your competition with moon rocks and super cells, while working on a surface with 1/6 the friction of earth. The overview is posted below.

Many teams in the area are still looking for LabVIEW mentors, so if you can help please contact Steve Summers - steve.summers@ni.com and we'll get you in touch with the right people.

Good luck FIRST teams!
