Abstract for Presentation:

You probably carry around more computing power in your pocket today than you had on your desktop 10 years ago. Learn how to harness the full capabilities of the iPhone, Droid, and other smart phones to acquire measurement data, present it on a limited display, and share it with your colleagues over the Internet.

Presenter:     Joe Friedrichsen , Job Title - Data Acquisition Software Development Engineer, National Instruments (NI)

About Presenter:

Joe started at NI in the Applications Engineering department, supporting both customers and the sales force. His team answered Data Acquisition and Modular Instruments questions, and so he has become very familiar with the requirements for automated test and measurement applications. His experience in software development for Linux opened the door for him to join the Measurements RLP (register-level programming) group, where he has been for the last two years. His responsibilities now are for off-platform custom DAQ drivers. To that end, he maintains DAQmx Base (the driver for Mac, Linux, and Windows Mobile), he develops and supports the Driver Development Kit (so that customers can write their own drivers for NI hardware), as well as do research into new platforms (like iOS and Android). He grew up in Colorado and went to school in Boulder. After he graduated, he taught English in Japan for two years. Outside of work, he enjoys social dancing -- swing, tango, and blues.
