NI SWAG for presenters

We have struggled a bit to get presenters for the user group meetings.  Is there any swag we can offer to those who do presentations?

One idea the user group board thought of was having a grab bag of goodies for the presenter to pick from then also at the end of the year having people vote on their favorite presentation.  That person would then win a fairly significant prize.

We have backpacks and t-shirts that we give as prizes for presenters or people who bring someone new to User Group Meetings. I've also thought about getting a TC-01 and giving that away. In the past, we have given gift cards to Best Buy as gifts or raffles at bigger events like Dev Days or NITS.

I don't know of any swag laying around the marketing department. Things tightened up during the recession and we haven't purchased much so the stockpile is gone. If you were to want to give away something small, what do you think your customers would enjoy?

I think backpacks and shirts and other NI branded things would be great.  Surprisingly enough I bet people would just be tickled pink for an NI screwdriver.

I'd like to get a clarification on a related issue.

Some time ago (several years), our user group was told by NI that any presenter could get $250 off NIWeek registration for each presentation made.  We used this for a year or two.  Actually, we never stopped using it.  Though I heard rumors that NI canceled this promotion.  What is the status of this?  Can we continue to use it or not?  It was quite useful with our group.

I have gotten all NI related SWAG from my Regional Event Coordinator. I haven't gotten anything from Marketing.

That's a great idea!  How was it administered, though?  Were you given a "coupon code" or something like that to use?  You say that you have "never stopped using it" which implies that you are still using it.  I know a promotion like this would help my group as well.

We were given a contact at NI.  After a presentation, the presenter was supposed to e-mail that person.  If the NI person ever felt the need, they could verify with the UG organizer that the presentation had actually occurred.  Then the NI person tracked the credits.  When you register for NIWeek, you coordinate with that person to get the discount.

When I say we never stopped using it, I mean that I continue to tell presenters to contact the NI person.  I haven't heard recently that anyone has tried using the option, hence I don't really know if it is still working.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of the great discussion. Grant Heimbach, the new LabVIEW Product Manager for Community and I are currently investigating some incentive programs to reward group leadership, presenters and attendees. We will try to incorporate everyone’s ideas into our plans and will share them with this group as things materialize.
