NI cDAQ-9191 Mobile Device Support Discussion

Hey Andrej,

Yes, ad-hoc networks can be "finicky". There may be a difference in the way the that your laptop and Android device discovers networks. Did you try manually setting the SSID in your Android Wi-Fi settings?

Hi Chris,

Installed firmware (reports version 1.2.10.f2) and successfully created wireless network from a laptop.

MotoRAZR sees network, but after several attempts is unable to obtain ad-hoc address using DD app or via OS settings.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the report. We think we've uncovered an issue with the firmware and how it works over an ad-hoc connection with tablets. We are working on a fix, although I don't have a timeline just yet. For the time being if you continue to have issues I would suggest using it with a router.

Can this apply to NI 9219 module as well with some source code modification in, say, eclipse?

Hey doogerk,

We are hoping to add support for the NI 9219 sometime this fall. Also, yes, you can develop an application in Eclipse that communicates the cDAQ-9191 via web services. Check out the documentation for the cDAQ-9191 Web API for more information.

Is there any chance of getting this ported to the NI ENET-9163, the identical(?) wired version of the 9191 single-slot chassis? I know the 9163 has been end-of-lifed, so I'm guessing not; so... what about the 8-slot wired version?

Just wondering,

Tom

It may be possible with the newer cDAQ-9181 chassis (1-slot Ethernet), but we wouldn't be able to port to the ENET-9163.

How would you want to use it with an 8-slot wired chassis? If you setup the chassis on the same network with a LabVIEW host system, would using the Data Dashboard for LabVIEW to remotely view and control the measurements work for your use case?

Aha! Glad to see there's a new 1-slot ether module- I hadn't looked for one since the 9163 was discontinued; and even better, there's now a 4-slot!

I was actually thinking- not through need, but as a convenient option- of direct display of waveforms from the DAQ device, so you could use the iOS device essentially as an oscilloscope, for a quick look at the signals, before attempting any acquisition with LabVIEW...

I heard the last lecture in the Fleming room last Tuesday. I am interested in looking at the example code for this app.

I would be grateful if you could direct me to where to find it.
