Hi all,

Very interesting presentations yesterday, thank you to everyone who presented. Also thank you to Steve and NI for organising everything.

It's a pleasure. I'll start a discussion on the next meeting soon (as I have a couple of subject requests and all the CLA summit stuff)

The presentations (and last quarters) are all available on the Google+ site, I'm trying to build an archive where we can link the presentation to documents on this site.

Yes, very interesting discussions yesterday.

I got back to the office and found a pristine copy of Code Complete, as refererenced in Peter's Assertions presentation. It's so full of useful tips, for any programming language.

Would be interested in extending the discussion to best practices in testing, and signing off code at the end of a project. What level of documentation should accompany, or be included in, code that's deployed and signed off?

Or, if you read the first chapter of Code Complete where metaphors used for software programming are discussed  - the house keys have been handed over but the snagging is not complete. Do you hand over the plans and everything associated with the build or just a welcome pack?

I've joined the ACM to help with my research and the first thing that came up was a Steve McConnell talk called "Stranger than Fiction: Case Studies in Software Engineering Judgment", it was very interesting, going through case studies on projects that went badly and those that went well.

I think I'll start a discussion for the next meeting and start adding topics (I'm guessing we will have material for a couple of meetings with the CLA stuff too)
