Thursday, January 30 is our next meeting, who wants to present? what do you want to see?

Happy new year !

We are in the process of defining the dates for 2014, I will update the dates on the main page and the Google calendar as soon as this is defined. In the mean time, let's start talking about what we would like to see, talk about at our next LabVIEW Architects Forum.

Thoughts?

Hey Fab, I'd be glad to present on any number of topics, perhaps in a casual, audience-participative manner, including:

  • a new, tricked-out, über-simple web service API for LabVIEW (useful far beyond just internet-y things)
  • Picture Control 2.0 -- using these lightweight servers to bind and synchronize application data model in LabVIEW to view on an alternate canvas than the Front Panel
  • dynamic typing in LabVIEW with a new take on a generic Data Container
  • Enabling run-time definition of APIs and traits/methods attached to Actors. Generally, greeting/transforming/routing/handling API requests to an active object who did not statically define it's API (and why this design pattern is popular in non-LV languages)
  • Serialization/deserialization of any arbitrary LVType (including LVClasses) to JSON and XML, including queryable objects using declarative syntax
  • Declarative vs procedural styles -- aggressively striving to Do Less Work while Getting More Done
  • Functional vs object-oriented styles -- what abstraction levels of application design do each have their merits? Are they orthogonal, or can we cherry-pick and mix merits?
  • Declarative languages such as SQL, XPath, Regular Expressions, and how querying can save a lot of headache over procedural slice-n-dice
  • Source Code Control and System Configuration Management and Virtualization and You

Open invitation to others -- I'm happier to co-present and share the load on any of these topics! Discuss below, and we can toss together a real abstract to promote on the event page.
