How to leverage code of existing tests?

There is a wealth of useful code in the existing tests, and creating a new test can often be simplified dramatically if we could start out with existing code, modify parts to suit our changed requirements, then save it under a new name in the custom tests.

The stock analyzers are at the following path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\_VI Analyzer\_tests

But is is impossible to copy an existing test, place it in "LabVIEW data" and start modifying and renaming, because of lvlib memberships, etc.

I guess easiest would be to create a new custom test and then copy/paste the code of an existing VI into it. Is this the recommended way? Is there a better way to do this? Anything to watch out for?

The approach I always take is to use Tools > VI Analyzer > Create New Test, then copy/paste code from existing tests into the VIs that are in the new test LLB.
