I have a presentation in mind for lessons learned on how to best test systems. This will include plenty of personal mistakes as well as mistakes I have seen others make. The presentation would include both software and hardware testing. Is anyone interested in seeing a presentation on this topic?
Yes. I would attend a long session on software unit, regression, etc. testing methods and practices.
A presentation on Software Testing would be excellent!!! Seeing some best practices/methods, especially if it could be a detailed look into how NI R&D tests their software, would be very helpful!
On a related note, NTE just announced a beta of their new plugin for Ranorex, which makes it possible to record and playback operator interaction with LabVIEW applications. This would be extremely relevant to this topic, so I would strongly consider including a demo. I just tested the latest version, and it' sdramatically improved over their initial release.

Hmmm... it would be great if I could figure out an excuse to be in Austin for the architects forum. I'd be happy to talk about how we do unit testing at JKI, using VI Tester. It also touches on a lot of OOP topics (since VI Tester is based on the industry-standard xUnit framework, which is highly object-oriented).
So based on comments, there is interest in presentations on testing. It sounds like we could do this as a two part presentation. I could start with a general lessons learned about testing and things to think about when creating test plans. And Jim could visit to do a guest presentation on VI Tester.
We would love to have you over. If traveling is not an option, maybe we can make something work with skype.
Would you want to present on the LabVIEW Plugin for Ranorex?
Cool! I'm game for that (skype/webex, if in person trip doesn't work out).
That's true. I have my plane ticket and everything See you in a couple weeks!
And Eli just confirmed he will present on Unit Test Framework as well.
