There are already documents on the web on this topic (the most well known is probably Eric Raymond's one), but you probably want something short and more specific. In any case, I suggest this goes into the community site or a KB article where it can be easily edited. If you place it as a forum post it will annoy me if it will be floated and I can almost guarantee people will post questions to it.
As I've said in the past, a better system would be to create a series of FAQs and have the search engine be smart enough to point the users to specifically formulated answers to those questions. KB articles fill this role partially, but they don't cover enough topics and the search engine doesn't find and display them prominently enough.
