The topics of FPGA, Real-Time, and Embedded programming are often requested and often discussed during our quarterly Rockford and Chicago Area LabVIEW User Group meetings.
A great place to get hands-on experience with LabVIEW embedded tools and techniques is the upcoming Build Your Own Embedded System Workshop offered by National Instruments. The session walks through creation of real-world example FPGA and Real-Time VIs, a Windows interface, and deployment and replication of the completed solution.
And at the end of the session, you walk away with an NI RIO Evaluation Kit (an sbRIO board with an evaluation mezzanine card) and a 90-day evaluation of the LabVIEW tools used!
