Gear train with more torque

I am trying to get as much power as I can out of the Tetrix motors. I have three different sizes of gears that I am able to use. What is the best order to get the most torque/power out of the motor? I have tried the smallest gear attached to the motor and the biggest gear attached to the axel. Is there another order I can put them in? Or can I add another gear to the end of the train?

Thanks!

Hampton

to get the most torque possible out of those motors, step 1 is putting the smallest gear on the motor and the biggest on the axle.  If you want to increase it from there, on the axle with the big gear, put another small gear on it and then have it drive a second axle with a big gear.  I can't remember how many gears of what sizes come in the kit, but something like that will work.  With enough gearing you can move about anything as long as you can hold your 'bot in place.

something like this ...http://www.schillereng.com/GearTrainDesign.jpg ... or this .... http://leake.ge.uiuc.edu/images/AI10/Gear%20Train.jpg

This is harder with just three gears.  Ideally you need a fourth gear on the driven axle ... you'd want a small gear on the motor driving a big gear, then a small gear on the other end of that axle driving a big gear?  clear as mud?
