FieldPoint IO Point In via control, rather than constant

Is it possible to create a front panel control to allow COM port selection for a cFP device?  Currently, my vi is setup with a constant for the 'FieldPoint IO Point In';

I've done this for a serial device, which is also included in this vi;

Yes.

Go ahead and try it.  It is easier than asking the question.

Okay, so I'm thinking the reason it wasn't quite so obvious how to do is the fact that the FieldPoint menu palette is missing (nothing in the "Measurement I/O" palette).  This should probably be a separate topic, but I'll go ahead and post it here anyways.  I'm running LabView 8.6, and have just installed the FieldPoint 6.1 drivers.  I also found a thread containing the '_FIELDPOINT' menu contents that I placed in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\menus\Categories\Measurement' directory.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you installed FP 6.1 drivers?  Or could it be 6.0.1?

Did you install the fieldpoint drivers AFTER installing LabVIEW?

See if this helps any:

RavensFan,

The answers to your questions;

Yes, FP 6.1 as shown in the screenshot below from NI MAX.

Yes, installed FP drivers after LabView was installed.

Your link is currently broken, but looks like an article I previously viewed.  It did not seem to help.

Thanks,
Jordan

I'm not sure what happened to that link.  But this should fix it.

I don't know what the problem is then.

I reviewed the updated link, and it was the link I thought it was.  As mentioned, it just shows that with LabView 8.6 the FieldPoint drivers version 6.0.3+ should work.

That being said, I may try to uninstall the FieldPoint drivers, and reinstall.  Worth a try anyways.

An uninstall and re-install of the FieldPoint drivers did not work.

Any other thoughts?  Anyone?

Turning out to be not so easy...  Is this accomplished through the 'FP Create Tag' vi?

After thinking about it some more, how can you control the COM port when it is specified in the .iak file?

These seems like new questions.  You'll have to give some more information on what you are tyring to do now.
