roboRIO 6v Rail Short

Our roboRIO shows a red power LED, which indicates that there is a short. In the driver station, it shows that the 6V rail has a short. The short is still present with everything unplugged except for power. We tried using compressed air to clean the roboRIO, but the short is still present. Is there a way we can RMA/exchange the roboRIO in time for the FRC champsionships next week?

Hi merry.lion6793,

I'm Matthew from NI. Thanks for posting on the forums.

Can you open the device using the four screws on the back and the two screws at the power port and clean the circuit board off using compressed air? (Maybe also use a flashlight to inspect the board closely for any remaining metal shards and remove them as well.)

Hi Matthew,

We did that when we initially sprayed it with compressed air. The short is still present. What should we do next?

Thanks

The 6V rail is used to power the PWM ports on the right hand side of the device.

Could you try cleaning it again (with both sides of the cover removed) and focusing on that area?
