No, the 100 ms probably is not the problem, as the request are probably much slower than 100 ms.

But: Are your settings correct?

Judging from a quick scan of the Delta VFD-MS300 manual, you can change a lot of settings, like baud rate, number of data and stop bits, parity, ..., Modbus unit id and finally the Modbus mode, ASCII or RTU.

Do same basic debugging and determine at which point the error occurs first.
