Ability to set default font colors

Status: Declined

You can change the default fonts and styles (bold, italic, etc) for FP and BD objects by changing the Font options in Environment.  However you cannot change the default font COLOR.  This would be convenient so when you place a control or indicator on your front panel, it will default to the same color every time.  If you can make your application/system/dialog fonts have underlines or italics, why not the color?  Also, there is already a box in the options that shows the default color is black, but you cannot change it.

How about a bug report?  Seems like a bug to me given the menu is there but the control is disabled.  I really wouldn't call it a feature request when they clearly implemented the feature and then disabled it for some reason.

It is highly annoying when your UI background is a dark color by necessity and all controls get dropped with black text as the label.

Not sure if this is a good idea, a bad idea or a bug or not. But the font Align property is also disabled. So if color gets a fix, align should also be considered.

I went to have a quick look. As far as I can tell, the last time the font dialog changed predates my employment at NI in Y2K.

Turns out that the feature is not implemented.

That same dialog is reused in a few places in LabVIEW for setting fonts. For one example, if you select a control and then use the font ring on the front panel's button bar to open "Font Dialog...", that's the same dialog. The color and alignment controls are not grayed out in other uses, but it looks like no one ever implemented storing color/alignment for the default fonts.

It's not a bug... this was clearly and deliberately left out of LabVIEW (code for Tools>>Options only explicitly turns off those controls). The change, however, predates source code control records (from 1998), so I have no idea why. But it's been that way for decades, and with so few votes, even if we classify it as a bug, I don't see ever making it a priority to fix.
