Allow access to default value on control properties dialog

Status: New

Re-opening because LabVIEW NXG has been discontinued.

The title says it all: The property dialog of controls should allow inspecting and changing the default value.

Here's how it could look like.

Sometimes I wand to re-define a default value without actually changing the current value.

current steps

  • copy the current value elsewhere
  • enter the desired default value
  • right-click...data operations...make current value default
  • restore the original value (could lose data in case of DBL!)

After implementing the idea

  • right-click...properties...enter default value...OK.

Array of default values is NI design.

Existed in the VI.

How did you change that property page VI?  It is password protected.

What do you mean

"Array of default values is NI design.

Existed in the VI."  ?

That doesn't sound right.  Show to me that NI has an array of default values and that it is in that VI.

Just open the VI, maximize the front panel.

If your screen is big enough, you will see 2 numeric array, one for values, one for defaults.

Perhaps the change to this dialog is a good time to also implement this other simple idea - http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/Numeric-control-limits-should-default-to-quot-Coerce-q...
