Allow mixed 3D plots of scatter, surface and parametric surface plots.

Status: New

I have a 3D set of data, to which I fit a plane, and then from that plane fit a bounding box which should contain 99% of all data.

I would really like to plot both a scatter of the source data, and the surface within the same plot. Ideally the box would have transparency, but even lacking transparency it would be very convenient in visually confirming the quality of the fit.

I don't understand. Does this already exist or are the pictures a synthetic representation of what something like would look like?

The first two pictures exist - you can do a 3D scatter plot and plot a plane,  the third one I photo shopped to better explain what my colleague was requesting as this is the idea exchange - which is allow plots with a a mixture of graph types.

Motivation was to help validate the plane calculation from the scattered points (which should have been ideally on a plane).
