Consistent increment and decrement behavior

Status: New

untitled.PNG

OK, so what happens to the index displays if you click the top buttons, the ones with the arrows pointing up?

Spoiler
the Ring and enum indicies DECREMENT

I would propose to make the behavior consitant so that UP increments and DOWN decrements

The Modern controls are no longer modern and IMO they should be heading the way of the Dodo.  Perhaps the ugliest element of the Modern controls are those increment and decrement buttons, so why show them on a ring anyway.

I suggest using the system ring/enum which drops those guys altogether.

It seems that some people would be put off by either the current or reversed behavior, but would anybody mind if the inc/dec controls went away?

Yes. I would. And a whole lot of touch screen users would as well.

To each their own, you may like the look, I don't.  First and foremost, I do not consider the ring or enum to be UI elements, (probably goes double for my touchscreens).  I would not find the modern inc/dec controls any less objectionable on my touch screens.  They seem to look worse the larger you try to make them and they don't scale with the control without recustomizing.   I much prefer to add my own buttons or sliders for sequential stepping.  I can control all aspects of the appearance and behavior, especially wrap-around.  Besides, I hate tapping touchscreens, I like to use sliders instead of buttons when possible.

You can swap the locations and images of the inc/dec quite easily to see if it "feels" better.   I didn't really think so, but it is hard to overcome years of muscle memory.

If it weren't for the array container index, I would be free of those guys and not have to use so many custom controls.
