Deleting item of a Front Panel group from the Block Diagram

Status: New

Many times, we are working on a LabVIEW code developed by someone else and hence we are not totally familiar with the front panel grouping, unless we try one at a time. Let me know if there is some special trick to understand the groupings.

If you try to delete an item belonging to Front Panel group from the Block Diagram, nothing happens.

It will be nice to at least get a dialog about it which will not keep the user wondering about the behavior.

It will be really nice if it is possible to delete the selected item of a Front Panel group from the block diagram.

Great idea. I have never personally used grouping before, but I was working with a LabVIEW shipping example just the other day that used grouping and it took me several minutes to figure out how to delete a control. Kudos.

Sounds more like a "feature" worthy of CAR to me than a real "idea", but who am I to know the difference? 🙂

What would constitue a real idea may be to have an indication on the diagram that two objects are grouped (maybe with a black boundary on the icon, which would prompt us to right-click and look for a "Highlight group members on BD"and  "Highlight group members on FP" contextual menu item?).

Maybe instead of just not being able to delete, you could get a dialogue box "This control is grouped with others on the front panel.  Are you really sure you want to do this?"

A related feature is happening when trying to find, from the BD, a control belonging to a group, as I reported here. I don't feel like writing a separate suggestion to correct this, so I am linking it to this thread..
