Event structure: ability to search/filter sources

We need to be able to search/filter event sources when adding a new event.

When you have a lot of controls/indicators in complicated nested structures, some of them will have the same names on the lowest level, It is very time consuming to visually scan through all the name to select the control for new event.

Current type to search functionality finds only lowest level control names which is not helpful. In the example below it will not find "Frequency" if I typed it, but it will find only "X" or "Y", but if there are 200 of them it is useless.

I agree with Yakov. I was about to post about the same topic. Searching for event sources is very time consuming if there are closer to 100 or more of them.

Current search means that you can browse through all event sources that start with e.g. the letter "a", by first mouse clicking on any event source and then pressing the key "a" until you have browsed through all of them. This is not very obvious and I think many don't realize that there is this kind of search available. At least I didn't realize it until I read this post. However this search has its limitations as Yakov mentioned.

Search / Filter event sources would be very useful and save a lot of time. It could be done like this:

I would be happy if there was just an option to have the cluster elements collapsed rather than always expanded and the items in the list in alphabetical order.

I then played around with it in LabVIEW 2018.  The filter functionality seems like it covers everything requested in Yakov's idea.  It can probably be marked as completed now.
