Installer option to include fonts used/required by application.

Status: New

It would be nice to guarantee that a deployed application will appear as it does in the development environment, by having an installer switch to include the fonts an application depends on.

While I agree this would be useful it may not be possible due to licensing issues. Many fonts are licensed and therefore you can't necessarily distribute them freely.

Good idea.

I don't see licensing being a showstopper. As developers we already have to pay attention to what we're distributing. It would be down to the developer to ensure what was being distributed was allowed.

Almost 3 years later this is still necessary. We have found that distributed applications in different parts of the world are not displaying the user interface as we designed it because the dialog font isn't present and has been substituted by a bigger one. Looks horrible and unprofessional and is hard to predict as the computers are not under our control. Having some predictable fonts would be a real bonus.
