Lets make the controls and indicators POP :)

Status: Completed

Available in LabVIEW NXG. Alignment guides appear when dropping new front panel objects to allow for easy alignment and distribution relative to existing objects.

There are multiple Development Enviroments which beside programming allow for nice UI design. One of the options that I was lacking the most here is the ability for the new controls and indicators to pop into position arranged to other elements of the front panel.

How is it now:

THE IDEA - to make adding new controls and indicator automatically pop into right position when hoovering them with a mouse as here:

I know this can be done with two additional mouse clicks but the method for aligning elements of the front panel that we have now is quite bulky and unfriendly to use.

Thanks, Piotr

I also do not mean grid alignment, we should be able to put them where we want but align to each other. The mechanism that I have in mind would be something like that in Visual Studio from Microsoft.

Every time I place a control, I wonder why LabVIEW doesn't work like SketchUp, Omnigraffle, Pages, Keynote, any other Mac layout program.... I do occasionally wonder whether it's so well patented, NI can't afford to license it... 😉

For that matter, why doesn't it happen on the diagram too......
