Make Build Specifications Less Fragile When Changing Directories on Disk

Hello all,

What Happens

When I move my project hierarchies to different directories on disk, often I notice that build specs lose most of their configuration.

Why?

I've theorized that this may be due to references to absolute paths, but when I look in the XML of the .lvproj file, this doesn't seem to be the case.  My other theory is that it has something to do with auto-populating folders, which I use extensively.  (Maybe I shouldn't?)

Is there some practice that I should be avoiding?  Nonetheless, I'd appreciate it if this were fixed.

More Context

I use source control in my everyday development.  (Peforce, in case you're curious)  I notice that when I switch workspaces on different PCs or a different developer uses another location on disk, I often have to reconstruct build specs by hand.  It's really annoying, especially because there's no easy way to export or import a build spec.

Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, please vote for this idea.

This sounds more like a bug than an idea. Have you already tried filing a bug report?

Hello AQ,

No, I haven't filed a bug report, if only because I haven't nailed it down to an exact scenario to reproduce it.  It happens a lot, but I'm not sure if it happens every time I change directories.  Part of the reason I posted here was to get a feel as to whether anyone else has experienced this.  (Admittedly, probably a better candidate for the ordinary LabVIEW forum)

Apologies if I've posted to the wrong location, and thanks for the response!

No problem... just that bug reports get priority over new features, so I want to make sure you file it with us appropriately. If it is something that results as a conflict with some other feature, that makes it feature development. If it is just us not handling the file move correctly, that's a bug.

Okay, I just filed a service request.  Thanks again!
