Resizable dialog box for 'Add Event Case...' and 'Edit Events Handled by this Case'

Status: Declined
Available in NI LabVIEW 2009

When the dialog box opens up and you want to select the Value Changed event for any control, it always requires scrolling down the 'Events' list.  It would be easier if I could make the window bigger once, and have that dialog open up in the bigger size every time I opened it up.  The 'Value Changed' event is the event used far more than any other event.

Since everybody's screen resolution is different, I recommend not making this dialog bigger, but making it resizable by the user, so that each user can set it to his preferred size.  LabVIEW should remember the size it was set to the last time it was used and continue to use that window size on all subsequent openings of that dialog.

You might want to check out the event dialog in LabVIEW 2009. See if your concerns got addressed 😄

I use a lot of clusters and it would help me a lot if not everything was expanded by default,

especially with nested clusters. This would save me a lot of scrolling...

This dialog has been improved very much in LV2009.

Still I can't see any good reason (from a user's pointof view) why it's not resizable.

I know, it may be quite a bit of work to do this properly in LV, but that's no excuse.

If it's too difficult to programm this in LV, it just means the UI features need to be improved as well 😉

I would add (and maybe this should be a separate Idea Exchange post) that the listbox of controls should have its order reversed. Right now it goes from first-added control to last-added control.

This is exactly the opposite of what I need. Usually what I do is add a new control to the front panel, then add an event for it. This forces me to scroll to the bottom of an ever increasing list every time I add an event. I very rarely want to add a new event to a really old control. The new controls should appear at the top of the list!

I am changing the status from Completed to Declined because Completed should only be ideas that R&D say on Idea Exchange, actively developed on it based on the idea, and it was added to the product
