"Simple" control palette

How about an entire control palette with simple controls?  There are a few of these in the classic control palette, but there could be many more.  The main idea is controls with a white background and a single pixel width black border:

Arrays and clusters with a single pixel width border.

Numbers, strings, paths all with single pixel width border.

Perhaps dials and sliders with a very simple black and white theme.

Graphs with single line border.

Error clusters and list boxes with plain borders...

Flat decorations like the flat box, plain arrows...

I think the idea is pretty clear.  The main purpose is to be able to develop clean interfaces that are as compact as possible and look good.  Everybody has dealt with putting a cluster within an array and wasting tons of space for borders.  If nothing else, a way to create clusters and arrays with single pixel borders would be great.

Altenbach has already suggested similar: Flat controls and indicators

No wonder it sounded like a good idea when I decided to post it.  Everybody ignore this one and Kudo Altenbach's post!!!

I am an active advocate for improving the front panel.  Even though I gave Altenbach Kudos, I am also doing it here.  I think it is important to emphisize good ideas repeatedly until they are implemented.  The front panel has been ignored for too long.  NI is such a great company in every other aspect, I can't imagine why they are so behind on their user interface.  Thanks for the redundant post!

Couldn't agree more. The highest accolade someone can pay a LabVIEW GUI is "...that doesn't look like LabVIEW..."
