Effect of high temperature on IO card(6527)

Solved!
Go to solution
Hi all,

Just for interest sake I would like to know if any knows the effect of high temperature on a IO card.
We use the PCI-6527. We know have the problem that it looks like sometimes the IO does not response when we try turn an output off.
We get no software error but the output appears to be stuck in the ON position. It seems that after a short time for no reason that it comes right.
Very irritating problem.
We have since found that the control cabinet can get very hot(around the 50 degree mark).
This 50 degrees is out of spec for the card so we will now do cooling and hopefully the problem will be solved.

Anyboy out there had experience with overheated IO cards, in particular the PCI-6527?

Could the heat be causing this?

Would appreciate any help you could give.

Thanks.

Jurgen

Hi Jurgen,

This could be a issue with the temperature. especially if the board had to endure high temperature for long periods of time. Basically all components on the board will operate as expected in the temperature range. if you are working out side this range yu can nolonger guarantee that all components work as expected.

The best way to determine of the temperature is the problem here would be to find out the temperature at the moment that you detect the problems.

Thanks
Karsten
