I downloaded labpython how do you get it to work

Does anyone know the next step to get Labpython to work with LabView?  I've downloaded it, but how do you install it?

Hi Cory,

Thanks.  VIPM cant seem to figure out how to communicate with the VI server on LV8.6.  I tried to manually configure the VI server port with a few different port addresses and the automatic and it just cant figure out how to communicate.  It found on its own how to communicate with LV 8.5.  But I never could see the Labpython tool palette to show up on 8.5 or 8.6.  Is there a next step that I am missing, other than getting the VI server in 8.6 to work.

I havent downloaded anything from OpenG before.

If they are LabVIEW libraries, VI's, or .mnu you could add them to user.lib in LabVIEW's program files.

What format are the files that you download?

You'd be better off asking VIPM questions on the JKI forum.  They're very good about supporting the LabVIEW community.

I could use some help on this topic myself.

I just downloaded the VI Package Manager and LabPython.

I placed all of the labpython stuff in :

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\user.lib

However, in the function palette, all of the VI's show up as '?'.

I get better/worse functionality depending on where I put the .mnu and .dll files.

There are 4 types of files:

.dll

.mnu

.so

.vi

Does anyone know where I should put what?

Like should I make folders/subfolders and put certain things in certain places?

Hi Cory,

You should to use VIPM to install LabPython -- you should not unzip it and try "putting things in certain places".

Once you've installed VIPM, you should be able to double-click on the LabPython package file and VIPM will install it.
