IMAQ ReadFile fails every other run

I have a very simple VI with 4 IMAQ / vision functions in it and I'm seeing strange behavior. Reading the image file throws an error very often (it seems like every run). I'm not changing the image or the path between runs. It is a large image (62 MB), but I have no idea what could be causing this behavior. Any ideas?

The original image was exported as a JPG from GIMP. I opened the file in MS Paint and re-saved it. Using the MS Paint saved image seems to work without issue.
