No VIs in the project

Solved!

I just went online searched it and went to NI page and downloaded it and installed using NI Package manager. I don’t know anything about support packages. Where can I find them

Hi govindsankar,

when you install the RT module there should be a selection which parts (including device support packages) you want to install…

Best regards,

So I thought I can only access the VIs if I have an actual device connected. My mistake since I have never worked in real time targets before. But I found out I can access the VIs if download and install all the modules in my PC. If you look in the screenshots you will see all the RT targets I have installed. FPGA, compactRIO and Real Time. I have installed all and still I cannot access the VI. Why is that? Is it because of the version. The labview is 2016, FPGA and RT I installed are 2024. What is the problem. Thank you.

You cannot just install RT and FPGA in a newer version than your LabVIEW version, and for sure not a version that is 8 years a part.
If you need to use RT and FPGA with LabVIEW 2016, the you need to install RT and FPGA in a version that work with LabVIEW 2016, most likely version 2016.

You also need the NI RIO driver that support the 2016 version and your RIO device. You don't need the device connected, but you still need the NI RIO driver.

Thank you. Yes i thought that was the problem. So installing 2024 won’t work. Ok then I’ll have to find a different solution. Thank you

Ok I installed 2016 versions for FPGA and RT as well. I thought it was not possible. But it is and I installed it. Only problem is I did the evaluation version and not full version. Also the version I installed was 32 bit but there is no 64 bit online. It is only showing 32 bit when my LabVIEW is 64 bit. So i installed all this as well as compactRIO 16 and  NI CompactRIO Module Support 16.2.1 Patch. I installed all this and i still cant access the VIs in RT target of the project. Kindly do help me. Thank you.

Back the days of LabVIEW 2016, there was only RT and FPGA version in 32bit.
To be able to use RT and FPGA, you need to have LabVIEW 2016 32-bit installed.

I guess there was no 64bit version of those modules at that time.

Did you try LV2016/32bit with RT+FPGA 2016/32bit modules?

Best regards,
GerdW

Install LabVIEW in 32bit version. Then install the needed modules (again).

Why did you even install the 64bit version when you need to work with a realtime target?

GerdW

Ok thank you for the answer. I am not sure whether I can do that. This is my office PC. I didnt know, so LabVIEW CD will have both 32 and 64 bit versions? I can choose. I didnt install labview in my PC. When I joined I got a pc with labview 64 bit installed. So not sure how it works. Thank you.
