Position sensor

Hi Friends,
Happy new year!
am looking for recommendation of position sensor to be able to reference  (e.g. Null Position)  my stepper motor control (motor + encoder + stepper) driving axil sealing punch in a Hydroforming machine for micro-parts production.

thanking all in advance

Optical interrupters are easy but may not be robust enough for the environment. They can have problems with mist, dust, oil, or anything else which might block the optical path. Magnetic or capacitive proximity sensors come in industrial versions. Price will depend on packaging, precision, type of output signal, and other factors.

If you are more specific about your requirements, someone may be able to recommend a particular product.

Thanks Lynn for your reply.
i would prefer a signal Analog Output (Messkarte M6221) and  should be very precise we are operating in micro-millimeter. the motor is driving a fine-screw-shaft. also as you said must be robust.am using LV 8.0
