Make Linux (RedPitaya) accessible via VISA

Hello,

I'm looking for a possibility to make a Linux, a Red Pitaya to be precise, accessible over the VISA standard like for example a Tektronics oscilloscope.

Right now I have no idea how to realize something like that and am really confused by all the stuff NI provides.

As I understand I need to create a IVI or a VXI driver which are using the VISA protocol, am I right?

Or is there already a IVI Linux driver. I found a LabView Plug and Play Instrument Driver, but I don't know if that ensures a basic VISA accessibillity that I also can use for example with MatLab.

All in all I have no idea how the whole thing works. It would be nice if someone got a simple example or somekind of explanation what has to be done to access a instrument via VISA if there is no driver yet, what NI-VISA really is or if I really need IVI Drivers.

I would really appreciate any help on this topic, thanks.
