Device has stopped using ipv4

After editing a line in the ifplugd script concerining advertised link speed modes (an ethtool command in the up case, no other commands are added), our sbRIO-9651 went offline...we thought. Until we found out that we can actually SSH into it using IPv6.

How on earth did that happen, and how do we get it back to IPv4 so that we can detect it in NI MAX?
