How to test a 8231 network card in cvi?

I am trying to write code to test all the cards in my PXI rack.  I am stuck on how to do a quick com check on the 8231 network card.  The card is not connected to a device.  All I would like to do is communicate with the card (reset, initialize...) and read the status (pass or fail).  How can this be done in CVI?

Hello,
The 8231 is just a Network Interface Card, there is however a diagnostic utility that comes in the installation disk.
