Is there a linux utility to change ni fpga r-series device name (alias) without using NI-MAX

Need a way to change the NI R-series NI7857r device name in the field without using LabView nor NI-MAX.  Th ni-hwcfg-utility can be used to change device names but it doesn't support the fpga ni7857r.  

There appear to be specific DAQ device utilites capable of changing names but not for the r-series devices.
