PXI 5600 physically incompatible with PXIe-1075 Chassis

Hi everyone,

I have a PXI-1042 chassis that I use with the PXI-5600 Downconverter and PXI-5620 digitizer. Also, I have another chassis PXIe-1075 that I also use with the PXI-5600 Downconverter and one PXI-5142 digitizer.

These modules that I describe are ALL Standard CompactPCI peripheral products, that means, not PXI express. Obviously, I use them on the hybrid slots of the PXI Express 1075 chassis.

It turns out that my PXI-1042 power source had a problem, so I ordered a new chassis, equal to the other one I have PXIe-1075. When I tried to install the modules PXI-5600 Downconverter and PXI-5620 digitizer into the new chassis and I had a bad surprise:

They are physically incompatible!!! How is that possible? They are the same I use in the other PXIe-1075 chassis, the only the difference is the digitizer but is also NOT EXPRESS.

So, I removed the PXI-5600 Downconverter and PXI-5142 digitizer, from the first PXIe-1075 and compared with the others that where from the dead chassis, these are the photos:

The above pictures are from the PXI-5600 Downconverter and PXI-5142 digitizer that I have in my PXIe-1075 chassis.

The pictures below are from the modules that I removed from the dead PXI-1042 chassis, showing they are different.

Now I have a new $ 7,000 chassis that I cant use with my modules because of that. What am I suppose to do? Is it possible to remove that portion of the connector as in the first pictures?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Regards.

You have an old PXI-5600.  Newer revisions (rev and later = E191764E-xx )  have a modified connector that allows them to be inserted into hybrid compatible slots in newer chassis.  You can likely send in your old PXI-5600 to NI to have the connector modified to fit into your new chassis.  There is a fee for this conversion. This document explains the connector change.

I'd recommend you call NI.
