This demo uses an NI X Series Device and LabVIEW 2009 to acquire distance data from a precision laser distance sensor in order to plot an object in 3D on the front panel. By using new NI-STC3 timing and synchronization technology on our X Series device, we are able to precisely synchronize the rotation of the object and vertical movement of our laser sensor in order to characterize the X, Y and Z points within the object. The scanning system requires analog I/O, digital I/O, and four counters, and we're able to interface to it with a single X Series device.
