Synchronisation

Hello,

I need to generate 3 x differential signals (or 6 x single ended signals), waveform sin, cos, square wave up to 10MHzand a ramp or triangle waveform up to 2MHz

All signals need to be arbitrarily variable on the fly in regard of amplitude, frequency, offset and phase shift (e.g. f( t ) = A * sin (ω t + ϒ ) )

All signals need to be synchronized as much / as good as possible, all signals will be in the range of +5V… -5V (signal + dc offset)

We have a NI PXIe-1075 rack which we would like to use.

Ay idea how to achivce that, especially the synchronisation (all signals start at the same time)

Cheers

Hi Daniel1976,

Do you currently have any PXI products available that have analog output capabilities (or digital I/O for the square wave)?

If not, using a couple signal generators is probably going to be the way to go, especially with the high update rates you require for the signals. See NI Signal Generator Catalog

More information about the signal generators can also be found in these white papers:

An Introduction to Signal Generation

Hopefully this helps. Just be sure that whichever module you look at is either PXI hybrid compatible or is a PXIe module since the PXIe-1075 chassis can only take these modules. The generation of the signals on the different modules can then be tightly synchronized through the backplane of the PXI chassis.
