Setting up Photoelectric Sensors

Has anyone else seen irregular performance as the voltage supplied by the PDB will vary with the battery voltage?  It is not infrequently that the voltage will drop below 9 v on occasion.

Blue goes to Ground lead from the digital side car. Brown goes to the Power and either the Black or White cable is connected to the signal cable. They said either choose white or black for all 3 sensors not both. The sample code is in the Labview cRIO Robot Project with Game code under Autonomous.

We've not done extensive testing or driving, but haven't noticed a problem yet. However, Team update 5 allows you to connect the line sensors to the solenoid breakout. If the solenoid breakout is connected to 24v as allowed by <R38>, this will protect the line sensor from low battery voltage.

I saw this update, but wasn't very clear on it. Do you still route the signal to the Digital input, and use the 24 volts from the solenoid breakout? I can see this working, but is the signal output open collector? Can we bias it with the 5 volts from the digital sidecar while the supply is powered with 24volts?

The signal output is an open collector.  There is no need to bias it, as the Digital Breakout already pulls its inputs high.  Route the signal wires themselves to the signal input.

has anyone set up any sort of off line testing.  i've got a bunch of these that i need to determine good or not.  I have 24v pwr supply w 750mA and I calculated an 18 watt bulb for a sinking load to my power supply common.

any help would be appreciated,
